Accueil » Water activities at Lake Annecy
Lake Annecy is the perfect playground for water activities, whether for leisure or sport.
The beaches
With water averaging 24°C in summer, come and relax on one of the 11 beaches of Lake Annecy.
Municipal beaches are supervised from July 1st to August 31st. Some are free, while others charge for access.
Board sports
Lake Annecy is an ideal spot for: water skiing, wakeboarding, wake-surfing… So many activities that allow thrill-seekers to improve or try something new!
Choose the morning, when the lake is calm and has few visitors, or in the evening before sunset.
Set sail!
Sailboat, catamaran, windsurf, kitesurf, wingfoil: all forms of sailing are possible on the lake. Look out for the days with the “bise,” the steady north wind that blows for 3, 6, or 9 days.
And beware of the “favergien,” a south wind that precedes bad weather and can stir up the lake.
Several water sports centers offer rentals, courses, and training. Choose yours and let yourself be exhilarated by the wind!
Stand-up paddle
In every season, paddleboarding is ideal on Lake Annecy. Discover the shores in total peace and opt for morning excursions. On the right bank, a beautiful experience awaits you along the Roc de Chère between Menthon and Talloires, with spots only accessible by paddleboard, such as the Grand Perthuys cave.
On the left bank, the “bancs blancs promenade” in Sevrier lets you enjoy the turquoise waters of this area of the lake.
Several professionals offer paddleboard rentals all around the lake.
Choose yours and set off on an adventure!
Freediving
Discover the world of silence and treat yourself to a moment of letting go in the turquoise waters of Lake Annecy. Accessible to everyone, freediving is a rapidly growing activity, and the lake is a great place to immerse yourself. First dives, explorations, courses—everything is possible, from beginner to advanced…
Discover freediving opportunities safely at our partner Planète Apnée.

Scuba diving
Lake diving is quite specific and completely different from diving in the sea. It’s no less attractive and spectacular!
Experienced divers can visit the wreck of the boat “Le France,” which has lain 42 meters deep off Annecy-le-Vieux since 1971…
For those who want to discover or improve their skills, several diving clubs offer introductory dives and courses during the summer season.
And if scuba tanks aren’t your thing, you can opt for snorkeling along the shoreline.
Pleasure boating
Want to sail with friends or family? It’s possible on Lake Annecy. You can rent your boat around Lake Annecy from the many rental companies for boats, with or without a license.
If you have your own boat, 9 ports are at your disposal: Annecy, Annecy-le-Vieux, Doussard, Duingt, Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Saint-Jorioz, Sevrier, Talloires, and Veyrier-du-lac.
For information, contact the relevant town halls.
And just like on the road, boating is subject to regulations you need to know and follow.
